Let our extensive experience as a reining horse trainer work for you. Many years of working with and training horses has allowed us to develop a successful reining horse training philosophy and program. Our training program builds a strong and lasting foundation for the aged event horses including colt starting, futurity horses, and derby horses. The program also helps the finished reining horse by improving their maneuvers, and building a strong relationship between horse and rider.
Our reining horse training program is designed to create a relationship between horse and rider by building a strong partnership, creating a willing attitude, and giving your horse the confidence they need to succeed in their show career.
Partnership
The Ben Gerst Reining Horses training program has its foundation in building a strong partnership between horse and rider. The horse looks to their rider for guidance and for direction, and it’s important to build a relationship based on teamwork with your horse.
Willingness
We ask a lot of our horses both in the show pen and in training. It is important that when we ask the horse to do something, that they happily say “yes”. The reining horse training program is fundamental in building that willing attitude we’re all looking for in our good minded horses.
Confidence
According to the NRHA handbook’s A.General, “… credit should be given for smoothness, finesse, attitude, quickness, and authority of performing various maneuvers…” In order to accomplish this you must have a horse that is confident and knows what their job is. It is a vital part of any training and show preparation program to build the horses trust and confidence.
